Calextone and guest percussionist Peter Maund bring to life the music, readings and illustrations from Giovanni Boccacio’s Decameron with songs and dances by 14th-century Florentine composers, including Francesco Landini, Lorenzo da Firenze and Jacopo da Bologna. Stories of hunting, games, love, ribaldry and longing are interspersed with poet Lawrence Rosenwald’s pithy commentary spoken in the guise of Christine de Pisan’s Ladies of Justice, Fortune, Rectitude, and Nature.
